LAUNCH THE SUMMER HOMEBUYING SEASON WITH AN OPEN HOUSE
In 2008, DABR held its first-ever area wide open house event. It was an enormous success, with REALTORS® reporting increased traffic, offers being made, and many registrations for gift card giveaways. In fact, one of the winners of a $250 Lowe's gift card even purchased the home he visited that day! Due to that success, DABR is planning to promote and hold another open house event on May 3rd, just in time to kick the summer homebuying season into gear. So save that date, and take part in what's sure to be another successful event!
In the meantime, the Dayton Daily News continues to hold their own neighborhood open house campaign. Click here to view their schedule.

ATTENTION YOUNG PROFESSIONAL REALTORS®!
The DABR is looking for 10 good REALTORS® to make a commitment to the local board and to the Ohio Association of REALTORS® to join the statewide Young Professionals Networking Group. This group was formed to groom our next generation of leadership within the REALTOR® industry. The DABR will help to defray your expenses to attend the spring conference held at the Hilton in Easton Columbus. Call or text Debra White at 241-1758 for details.
IS YOUR CLIENT'S SON LOOKING FOR A BASEBALL TEAM?
Moving to a new area can be tough for all members of the family, particularly those kids that play competitive sports. Hopefully, a few of our local REALTORS® can help.
Brent Moore of Prudential One, REALTORS® and Art Brooks of Coldwell Banker Heritage, coach a very competitive 12U baseball team made up of players from Centerville, Oakwood, Springboro, Trenton and Waynesville. This team has been one of the top Division I teams for the past three years. Their 2009 season includes instruction from college coaching staffs and current/former minor league players, league play in the Dayton and surrounding area, and tournaments in Cincinnati and Columbus. But the highlight of the season is their trip to the 2009 American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame Invitational Tournament in Cooperstown, NY, to play with 96 of the best teams in the country.
Brent and Art are looking for a player to replace a team member who recently left. The player cannot turn 13 prior to May 1st. If you know of anyone that recently moved to the area that has a son that plays competitive baseball, please have them contact Brent Moore at (937) 672-5460 or brent@brent-moore.com. Additionally, Brent is very involved in the select/travel league that covers Richmond, IN to Springfield and Sidney to Lebanon, so if you know of a player that would fall in a different age level, have them contact Brent to be put in touch with the coaches in the respective age level. Play ball!

Harry Vearn, 2009 President of The Dayton Area Board of REALTORS®
When we think of networking in the business sense, the image that comes to mind is a big get together of professions who chat, shake hands, and talk shop at an event like our annual holiday reception or a WCR event. While I believe that these functions are extremely important in building relationships with peers and clients, new technology affords us the opportunity to try different methods of networking. That's where online social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter come into play.
You've no doubt heard of Facebook, and while Twitter is a bit newer, it's gaining popularity quickly. They're both ways of keeping connected with clients, associates, friends and family, but they each take a different approach. With Facebook you can share stories, videos, photos, and design your own "page", but Twitter is more cell phone text-friendly - it simply lets you make a statement in 140 characters or less.
Here at the board we've just started using these new communication vehicles, and we encourage you to join us. Follow us at www.twitter.com/dabrnews, and look up the Dayton Area Board of REALTORS® at facebook.com. Come write on the wall, start a discussion, or just make a comment. It's a bit more irreverent and relaxed than this newsletter or our website, so we hope you have fun!
