Core Civil Rights. This updated course is a survey of the major components of Fair Housing in it’s first 45 years of existence in the United States. The course explains the current impact of the Civil Rights Act of 1866 and takes the student on a tour though all of the other major fair housing legislation and Supreme Court Cases that have relevance to real estate practitioners today. The course examines the updated regulations issued by HUD and the Department of Justice. It explains how real estate testing is used to uncover discrimination in the housing markets. Last, the course reviews the latest findings on the scope and type of real estate steering that is being uncovered by HUD and other major civil rights groups and what their advice to REALTORS® is in order to avoid liability.
